SMS Outlined Sustainability Approach to Agri-industries at BCCT Digital Event

October 4th, 2022 Dr. Siwarutt Boonyaratanakalin (Assistant Innovation Director of SMS) and Mr. Chatchai Jatunawarat (Assistant Raw Material Management Division Manager of SMS) attended the BCCT Digital Technology Group Event, highlighting the challenges of Agri-based industry and its opportunities.

SMS outlined the aids to farmers in terms of food quality and quality of agricultural production. The company addressed the 3 mains long-term projects to support farmers; farmer membership, biodegradable mulch film for plantation, and soil analysis.
The company launched Thailand’s First Farmer Membership for more than 30 years. The project was aimed 3 frameworks to cover all dimensions to support and educate farmers, including knowledge training by implementing technology and innovation, economic flow by manipulating transparent purchasing, and health & wellness by providing equal welfare.

The company also supports biodegradable mulch film for plantation which helps reduce labor cost, maintains moisture in the soil, and avoids plastic waste in environment.
Moreover, in order to obtain high yield, it is essential for the plantations to be nourished with customized fertilizer formulas containing an appropriate amount of nutrients like Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K). SMS also implements customized fertilization by soil analysis. SMS specialist teams manage to outfield for nutrient analysis and reduce unnecessary nutrients, maximizing cassava yield.
