SMS’s Second 'Transforming Tomorrow' Forum Sparks Innovation in Thailand’s Pharmaceutical Industry
On October 25, 2024, SMS hosts a second forum “Transforming Tomorrow: The Innovation Forum Experience” which this time centers with the topic “Strengthening the Thai Pharmaceutical Industry through Innovation.” This gathering brings together industry leaders, experts, and innovators to discuss pivotal topics and explore the transformative potential of innovation within Thailand’s pharmaceutical sector.

Starting with an overview of Thailand’s pharmaceutical market trends and future prospects from Assist. Prof. Rungpetch Sakulbumrungsil, College of Pharmacy Administration of Thailand. This is followed by Dr. Jiraporn Mongkolpiyawat, Head of Pharmaceutical Research Section, Government Pharmaceutical Organization who addresses steps for scaling pharmaceutical products from lab development to full production.
Additionally, a session on direct compression, presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Narueporn Sutanthavibul, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chulalongkorn University explores solid-state morphology and IP challenges. Prof. Dr. Pornsak Sriamornsak from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Silpakorn University, then explains the role and versatility of starch as a pharmaceutical excipient.
In a session led by SMS starch specialists, the advantages of SMS’s innovative modified starch excipients are highlighted, showcasing their ability to provide cost-effective, high-performance solutions for the production process. This forum also features an interactive workshop, demonstrating our starch excipient’s performance in tablet formulation, focusing on flowability, binding capacity, and disintegration tests.
