Ministry of Industry Delegation Visits SMS to Explore Value-Added Cassava Innovations

On 18 August 2025, Siam Quality Starch Company Limited, under SMS Group,  has the honor of welcoming a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Industry (MIND), led by Mr. Akanat Promphan, Minister of Industry, together with Mr. Anan Nakniyom, Governor of Chaiyaphum Province, and regional government representatives. The delegation visits us to gain insights into how cassava is being transformed into value-added solutions that support multiple industries worldwide.

The distinguished guests are warmly received by Dr. Werawat Lertwanawatana, CEO of SMS Corporation Co., Ltd., and Mr. Natachai Wanglee, Managing Director of SMS Corporation Co., Ltd. Together with the SMS team, they introduce the company’s innovation-driven approach and highlighted how SMS continues to lead the modified starch industry through expertise, research, and innovation—adding value to cassava and transforming it into world-class modified starch products.

The visit highlights SMS’s advanced capabilities in starch modification and application expertise across both food and non-food industries, demonstrating how Thailand’s cassava can be elevated into high-performance, sustainable solutions that meet the needs of global markets. By converting cassava into functional modified tapioca starches, SMS not only strengthens Thailand’s position in the global market but also creates solutions that serve diverse industries—from food&beverage to pharmaceuticals, paper, sustainable packaging, and beyond.

The delegation learns about SMS’s Farmer Membership Program, an initiative designed to ensure a fair, transparent, and sustainable purchasing and sourcing processes.
